Major brain fart = let’s answer some questions! Icebreakers are better when they’re virtual! Let’s go!
What’s your favorite piece of clothing you own / owned? I have two really fancy hats that I got in a vintage store in Edinburgh that I’m pretty much in love with. Both are very 1940s with netting that comes down around the face. I’ve only ever worn them as parts of costumes, but if it weren’t for my crippling self-consciousness, I would probably wear them every day. Also, I’m a fan of pretty much all of my pairs of socks.
What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue? Either guitar or sewing. I own a guitar but don’t know how to play it, just a few easy songs. I also know how to sew, but never have time or money to make anything really cool.
What would your perfect room look like? All the walls are just bookshelves. There’s a window with a bench and plenty of cushions. There is also a secret door, disguised as another bookshelf because why not. Also, this has nothing to do with how it looks, but no one knows about it but me, because that’s just an added bonus.
How often do you play sports? Not often. Sometimes in the summer I’ll play sand volleyball with friends. That’s about the extent of it.
What fictional place would you most like to go? Freaking Hogwarts because, YES, I’M THAT PERSON.
What job would you be terrible at? I could never be a real estate agent.
When was the last time you climbed a tree? Probably at least 3 years ago — I would climb trees on my college campus.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning medal for? Weird face-making?
What is the most annoying habit that other people have? LOUD EATERS BOTHER ME.
What job do you think you’d be really good at? Producing/directing plays. Or, you know, writing *cough*.
What’s your favorite drink? Alcholic: Moscow mule. Non-alcoholic: Strawberry lemonade.
What state or country do you never want to go back to? I could be happy never going to New Mexico again. I never even visited — just drove through. All I remember is it was hot and there was no civilization as far as the eye could see.
What songs have you completely memorized? Too many. But the one I’m most proud of is “Technologic” by Daft Punk.
Are you usually early or late? Early. Almost annoyingly so. I’m that person that waits in the parking lot on her phone when she arrived at the restaurant too early to meet her friends. I’m that person that arrives ten minutes early to pick someone up so she drives around the neighborhood for a while until she’s only five minutes early. It’s a curse.
What takes up too much of your time? I have an unhealthy relationship with the Internet.
What do you wish you knew more about? I’ve always wished I was more of a history buff. And to go along with that – archeology and the uncovering of ancient civilizations.
What are some small things that make your day better? Coffee, tea, when I get to pet a dog.
Who’s your go-to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to? Sylvan-Esso or Fleet Foxes.
What TV show or movie do you refuse to watch? The Bachelor[ette]
What is the most annoying question that people ask you? Is your hair-color naturally red?
What could you give a 40-minute presentation on with absolutely no preparation? Probably Shakespeare.
What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives? Travel internationally.
Would you rather go hang gliding or whitewater rafting? Hang gliding, for sure.
What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years? Getting a dog.
What fad or trend do you hope comes back? It seems like everything I used to wear as a kid is already coming back in style – overall dresses, leggings with oversize sweaters, velvet dresses, choker necklaces – everything except butterfly clips and Livestrong bracelets, but those can just stay in the past.
What city would you most like to live in? Edinburgh
What are you looking forward to in the coming months? . . . Moving.
What one thing do you really want but can’t afford? A dog. Duh.
What are you absolutely determined to do? I want to get a novel published one day.
Do you use sarcasm a lot? Pshhhhh no.
Scary movie or happy endings? Neither. I don’t like scary movies but I mostly think completely happy endings are bullshit. You’ve got to make sacrifices! This is an odd question.
Favorite smell? Hardware stores. I just love it.
Last book you read? A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
The book you’re currently reading? Turtles All the Way Down by John Green
Who was your first best friend? This girl Alison from preschool. I never saw her after moving on to first grade. We had another friend Paul, who I was in love with, but when asked which one of us he was going to marry, he did Eeny Meeny Miny Moe and chose her. That may or may not be why we aren’t friends to this very day.
How many countries have you visited? Well, this is complicated because the UK is weird – but I’ve been to England, Wales, and Scotland. I’ve also been to Italy, Iceland, and Canada.
What was your favorite/worst subject in High School? My favorite subjects were English (duh) and, weirdly, Algebra & Calculus. My worst subject was Chemistry.
What is your favorite animal? Elephants, Giraffes and dogs.
What would you (or have you) name your children? I’ve always liked the name Charlie, for any gender.
How would you describe your fashion sense? Dress to digest. (a.k.a. minimal effort — I like to be comfortable to sit around and digest my food).
What phone do you have? iPhone 5C — it’s freaking four years old.
Okay, okay. I think this has gone on long enough, so I’ll end it there. Not sure how knowing what kind of phone I have will help you in getting to know me, but there it is. I’m currently in the throes of NaNoWriMo and therefore, creatively stunted when it comes to blogging, but what else is new.
I hope everyone is having a happy Monday!
